Mellor children attended Orchestra UnWrapped workshops with the Leicester Philharmonia; they chose a classical piece and created an artwork to accompany it.
The children listened to Beethoven’s Symphony Number 6: The Storm, and worked with their teacher to create a visual response with a free choice of art materials.
Visualising their own representation of the music before putting it down on paper provoked much discussion and helped formulate their ideas.
They also discussed work by Hokusai, Turner and Lowry, and did online research for images of twisters, rainbows and storms.
